Why IP65 Actually Matters
Here is the thing about changing rooms: they’re brutal. You’ve got steam, splashes, and people scrubbing everything down with harsh chemicals. A regular heater would probably short out or just rust away in a few months. We build our units to IP65 standards because, frankly, they have to be tough. The housing is totally dust-tight and can handle water jets without breaking a sweat. We seal the heating element behind a piece of high-transmittance glass and use reinforced cable entries and silicone gaskets. It keeps the moisture out of the electrical guts where it doesn’t belong.
Getting the Heat Right
The beauty of shortwave lamps is the power density. There’s no “waiting for it to warm up” like you get with those clunky oil-filled radiators. It’s just instant energy. But a word of caution: these things are powerful. Because the heat is so concentrated, you can’t just slap them anywhere. If you mount them too low or put them right next to a plastic locker, you’re going to warp your fixtures. It’s all about finding that sweet spot between the mounting height and the wattage so you get a cozy glow instead of a hotspot.
Setting Them Up (And Keeping Them Running)
We designed these to be simple drop-in replacements, so you aren’t ripping out your whole ceiling. The wiring is easy enough, though just double-check that your circuit breakers can handle the initial surge when the lamps kick in. As for maintenance? It’s almost non-existent. Since everything is sealed, you don’t have to tinker with the internals. Just keep an eye on the glass. If soap scum or dust builds up on the lens, it blocks the infrared waves and the room stays chilly. Give it a quick wipe, and you’re back to full power.
