
Why Most Bathroom Heaters Die (And How We Fixed Ours)
Let’s be honest: bathrooms are a nightmare for electronics. You’ve got steaming hot showers, random splashes of water, and temperature swings that would make a thermostat dizzy. Most infrared heaters just can’t handle it. Water sneaks into the housing or builds up a thin film on the quartz tube, and before you know it, the thing burns out. It’s frustrating, and it’s way too common.
Keeping the Water Out
We took a different approach. Instead of just slapping a cover on it, we obsessed over the seals. We use recessed housing and tight gaskets to make sure water never even thinks about touching the electrical terminals. If water finds a path to the wiring, you get a short circuit. Simple as that. But we also thought about the physics of a splash. We positioned the internal parts so that if any moisture does get inside, it naturally drains away from the electronics. This is huge because if a drop of cold water hits a glowing hot quartz tube, the glass can crack from the shock. Our design basically makes that impossible.
The Fight Against Fog
You know that foggy film that covers the mirror after a shower? The same thing happens inside a heater. When that warm, moist air hits a cooler surface, it condenses. This creates a tiny wall of water that traps the heat inside the lamp instead of letting it reach you. You’re paying for heat that’s just bouncing around inside the box. To fix this, we added a special coating to the reflector and lens. It changes the surface tension so water droplets can’t cling to it. They just slide off. The result? A clear path for the infrared waves to hit you instantly.
One Small Catch: Give it Some Space
Here’s the thing. When you seal a unit this tightly to keep water out, you lose some of that natural airflow. Heat builds up inside the chassis a bit faster. Because of that, you can’t just cram these into a tight ceiling void and hope for the best. If there’s no room for the unit to breathe, you’re essentially cooking the internal wiring.
