How much power do you actually need?
It mostly comes down to how much space you’re trying to cover. If you’ve got a tiny powder room, you don’t need much. A single 250W to 400W shortwave lamp does the trick. It gets the space cozy almost instantly without making it feel like a sauna. But once you move into a full-sized bathroom, you’ve got to bump those numbers up to 600W or 800W. And here is a pro tip: don’t just buy one massive, high-wattage lamp. You’ll end up with one scorching “hot spot” right under the light while your toes stay freezing. Instead, go with a few smaller lamps—like three 400W units—spread across the ceiling. It feels much more natural.
The technical side of things
More wattage means you get warm faster. Simple. But it also puts more stress on your electrical system. Check your wiring and breakers before you go overboard.
