Let’s be honest: those old-school bathroom heat lamps are kind of a gamble. You turn them on, hope they don’t flicker, and pray they don’t burn out. Most of them aren’t actually sealed, which is a problem when you’re dealing with a room full of steam and splashes. Moisture gets inside, things short out, and suddenly you’re staring at a dead bulb. That’s why we’ve been moving toward IPX5-rated infrared heaters. They actually handle the wet environment of a bathroom without breaking a sweat. What’s the deal with IPX5? Basically, it means the unit can take a direct hit from water jets and keep on ticking. We use reinforced gaskets and sealed housings so the guts of the heater stay bone-dry. It’s not just about keeping you safe (though that’s the big one). It’s about making the thing last. Cheap heaters usually die after a couple of winters because the connectors inside just rust away. These don’t. The “Instant Warmth” Factor Here is the best part. Traditional heaters try to warm up the air in the room. But air is stubborn; it takes forever to heat up. Infrared is different. If your home’s wiring is a bit dated or undersized, you might trip the breaker. One more tip? Get a moisture-resistant switch.
